Share My StoryA community journal, written by you
Written Rituals is a place for real stories from real lives — the year everything changed, the small moment you still think about, the chapter you never told anyone. You write it. We read it, tidy it up if it needs it, and share it with people who need to hear it.
Write it your way
Long or short, polished or raw. There's no wrong length and no wrong voice.
Be named, or stay unseen
First name and Instagram handle, first name, initials, or anonymous. Whatever you pick, we honor it.

About
Janelle Bird
Never forget to remember who you are.
One thing I know for certain: we all want to be heard. We all want to feel supported.
My name is Janelle Bird, and the idea for WRITTEN RITUALS found me at a point in my life where I was immersed in a brand-new community. I didn't know anybody. We were strangers, each arriving with our own lives, histories, experiences, and stories, but something happened as time went on. The more we shared, the more connected we felt. Little by little, the strangers around me became a new family.
Somewhere along the way, I realized something about myself: I never want to stop sharing, and I never want to stop listening, because when someone trusts you with a piece of their story, something shifts. You see them differently. You understand them more deeply, and often, somewhere inside their experience, you recognize a piece of yourself.
In a world of chaos, overproduction, and less time for genuine human interaction, there's something incredibly powerful about having a place to release, to take a moment and speak your truth, and feel that sigh of relief that comes from finally letting something go.
You are not here by coincidence. You have a story waiting to be told. Maybe it's a story of heartbreak, loss, transformation, or becoming. Maybe it's a story of pure bliss, a meaningful exchange with another person, a moment you'll never forget, or an experience that changed you. Maybe it's something much simpler: finding magic in the mundane, a coincidence you still think about, a little bit of luck that arrived at exactly the right time, a stranger who said something they couldn't possibly have known you needed to hear, something wonderful that made you ask, "Why me?" or something painful that made you ask the very same question.
Please know this: you do not have to be a writer to belong here. Maybe you've never written a story. Maybe you've never even written a report or a proper letter. It doesn't matter. WRITTEN RITUALS isn't looking for submissions from people with perfect grammar, journalism degrees, or PhDs. This isn't about how beautifully you can construct a sentence or whether you know where every comma belongs. This is for everyday people living everyday lives with real stories to tell.
Write it exactly as you remember it. Write it imperfectly. Write three paragraphs or three pages. Tell it in your own words, in your own voice. We can worry about commas later, because sometimes the stories we think are the most ordinary are the ones someone else needs the most. We are all pieces of history, living biographies, collections made of moments and memories that may disappear if we never give them somewhere to live.
These are stories of the human experience, stories that anchor us to one another and remind us of our connected consciousness, especially in a world where AI and technology have somehow found their way into nearly every corner of our lives.
But this is real.
You are real.
I am real.
Our stories are real. WRITTEN RITUALS is a space to connect through sharing, through community and culture, through vulnerability, bravery, emotion, passion, curiosity, and love for one another. Share as much or as little as feels right. Put your name on it or remain completely anonymous. There is no perfect way to tell your story. Just tell it because your story matters, because someone may need to hear it, because sometimes being heard is where connection begins.
Never forget to remember who you are.
